Job Title: Media Manager

Description

  • Providing support in creating brand media strategy across all traditional media channels
  • Implementation of markets insights
  • Drive of day to day media planning and buying activities
  • Management of agency through an end to end process of launching campaigns to paying all media houses
  • Ensuring media strategies are aligned with brand objectives -- track against milestones and manage budgets for all media related activities within key initiatives/programs in line with brand and product priorities
  • Coordination, management, and keeping of up-to-date key reports and insights on media behaviours, campaign performance, and media spend
  • Differentiating the brand by implementing new media insights and knowledge of media channels, as well as global competitive insights

Responsibilities
Agency Management:

  • Manage the agency and assess their input to media planning by ensuring that the following elements are comprehensively considered in media plans:
  • Market analysis - Airtel Brand Tracker
  • Media scene analysis using monthly/quarterly diaries
  • Competitive analysis - SOV/SOE
  • Media strategy and planning
  • Media mix and selection rationale
  • Media buying and control methods
  • Review of innovative media ideas for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Budget optimization strategy and monitoring

Media Strategy & Plan Implementation:

  • Use product and communication insights to create unconventional media strategies
  • Develop and optimize media investment and plans by using accurate audience segmentation and media ratings. Ultimately generating greater effectiveness and efficiencies of our IMC plans
  • Set campaign objectives and analyze media impact on core brand & media metrics; communication awareness, TOMA, GRPs, CPT, and SOV
  • Reporting – Manage the development and submission of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports

Media Compliance Review and Control for Payment:

  • Implement a seamless flow of compliances and vendor payment at all times
  • Manage media reconciliation process and ensure the right value is paid for deployed campaigns
  • Review Agency invoices and third party documents accompanied with compliance reports for payment with attention to the parameters guiding compliance reporting
  • Manage account Payables for invoices sign-off by all members of reporting line
  • Mediate on delayed payments to media partners who may be aggrieved or threatened to discontinue brand exposure in the media

OOH Media Management:

  • One of the rigorous aspects of media function is the outdoor management. The Media Manager is required to carry out the following functions:

Rental/Space Management:

  • Manage campaign distribution matrix on OOH based on agreed market factors such as customer base, campaign objective, competition, ARPU and overall revenue by region.
  • Conduct physical site inspection with the agency/regional office marketing team to ensure that billboards are strategically distributed and located across selected markets pan Nigeria.
  • Issue monthly codes for billboards photos for compliance tracking
  • Match monthly coded photos from billboards owners with independent media monitoring reports for compliance and payment upon presentation by the Agency with third party invoices for payment

Print Production Management:

  • Compile and update from time to time the technical information (material type, the size of the board, print specifications, cost per square meter print) of each billboard in Airtel outdoor network.
  • Periodically assess the performance of the printers. Based on the outcome of the assessment, determine the quantity of jobs to be allocated to each printer in subsequently quarters.
  • Ensure that materials are printed and ready for posting ahead of campaigns break and dispatched to the billboard owners

Customer Management:
The media manager is required to work with the following internal and external customers:
Internal Customers:

  • Product Team - product development, campaign launch, reporting
  • Finance (Follow-up on payment to media agency, etc)
  • Supply Chain Management (for purchase orders issuance, Media negotiations)
  • Business Intelligence
  • Legal (Service agreements preparation)
  • Regional Offices (Campaign launch, monitoring, amplification of field activations)

External Customers:

  • Media Planning and Buying Agency (for media plans and strategy, media research data analysis, media negotiations, Campaigns control and reconciliation)
  • Media Monitoring Agency (Monitoring reports analysis, SOE/SOV reports, Media Partners, Campaigns exposure, Self-monitoring for compliance, Billboards posting, Invoicing for payment, Reconciliation for compliance
  • Creative Agency - Development of creatives and delivery to media planning and buying agency Marketing Departments

Others:

  • Support to manage the advertising agencies and ensure superlative output and turnaround time on all projects
  • Ensure regulatory compliance on All advertising materials and keep Airtel on the good side of the related regulatory bodies
  • Support to conduct bi-annual agency evaluations and prepare required documentation for cascade to all stakeholders

Qualifications

  • A recognized university degree
  • Understanding of the rudiments of Media Landscape in Nigeria
  • Experience in Media Strategy, Planning and execution (Not less than 5 years)
  • Understanding of Use of media channels, content creation and role of multi-channel mix
  • Knowledge of media planning software and diaries - AMPS, MPS, MediaStar
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Master’s in Business Administration would be preferred additional qualification dependent on experience
Skills
