3 REASONS WHY YOU PROBABLY HAVEN'T GOT THAT JOB

3 REASONS WHY YOU PROBABLY HAVEN'T GOT THAT JOB

In the course of chatting with a lot of job seekers on BBM, I've had a good number of them lament on the fact that they've been applying for jobs for a long period of time and yet they are not being called for Interviews/Tests. This is a common experience for most job seekers.

Also, another common question from these job seekers is:
Are these jobs real? Though I make every effort to verify the authenticity of my job posts, I'm in no way affiliated to any of the companies whose vacancies I publish. However, I assure you that most of them (if not all) are authentic. My advice for you is never to pay any amount of money to any recruiter.
Let's leave that discussion for another day.

From the information I gather from job seekers on my BBM List, I've noted some of the aspects of their job search or application process where they get it all wrong.
Consequently, I'm going to list some useful points which could help you as a job seeker get called/invited in that next aptitude test/interview.

1) The Job Seeker Population in Nigeria is Overwhelming:

Every 4 months in a year, approximately 2000 NYSC Corpers pass out from each State in Nigeria.

Mathematically,
                              2000 Corpers  x 36 States in Nigeria = 72000 Graduates
                              72000 Graduates + 2000 Corpers in Abuja = 74000 Graduates/4 months
Logically,
                             74000 x 3 = 222,000

Therefore,

Nigeria churns out 222,000 graduates into the labor market every year and this number increases every year because I'm sure it's not everyone that gets a job every year. This number is excluding  job seekers who are already working but need a better job. And this is a good number of people too!

You see? You are not alone. Like I always say, it's a survival-of-the-fittest situation out there.
Consequently, you just have to be patient, improve on yourself everyday to have an edge over most other people and never relent in applying for jobs.

2) You Use a Generic CV/Cover Letter format for all Job Applications:
Never use one CV and Cover letter for all your job applications.
Don't be lazy. Stop giving excuses like, I cant edit my CV or Cover letter on my phone etc. Always find a way to draft and prepare these documents to suit every job you are applying for. Or don't you need a job?

3)  Cut Your Coat According To Your Cloth:
If you are a Fresh Graduate, apply for Graduate trainee Jobs. If you have an OND, apply for such jobs. Apply for jobs that befit your current skills, qualifications and experience. Don't be greedy. Stop looking for high paying jobs that you are not qualified for. Start somewhere no matter how small. The labor market is a complex ladder, but trust me, you'll get on top someday.

I hope this helps
SOMEONE MIGHT NEED THIS, WHY NOT SHARE IT.
